Charter Communications, Inc. is an American telecommunications and mass media company offering services under Spectrum. With over 32 million customers in 41 states, it is the largest cable operator in the United States and the largest pay-TV operator. It is just ahead of Comcast and AT&T in these categories. Charter is also the fifth-largest telephone provider based on the number of residential lines. In late 2012, Thomas Rutledge, a longtime Cablevision executive, became CEO of Charter, and the company relocated its corporate headquarters from St. Louis, Missouri, to Stamford, Connecticut. However, many of its operations remained in St. Louis.
